In financial services, compliance is never static. Regulations evolve, risks emerge and expectations from regulators grow more demanding each quarter. At azakaw, we believe technology should not only keep pace but also anticipate these shifts, reducing friction for compliance teams while giving regulators confidence in your frameworks.

Our September 2025 release continues this commitment. Built directly from practitioner insight and client feedback, the new features focus on three priorities: faster onboarding, smarter risk detection and stronger compliance monitoring.

Seamless Identity Verification with Nafath (Tailored for the Saudi market)

Identity verification is at the core of digital onboarding, yet it often remains one of the most error-prone steps. Manual data entry, document uploads and inconsistent liveness checks all create drop-offs and expose firms to compliance gaps.

With this release, azakaw now integrates directly with Nafath, Saudi Arabia’s government-backed digital identity platform. Customers can verify their identity in seconds, with pre-filled, regulator-trusted data pulled straight from official records.

How it works:

  • The customer begins onboarding through your portal.

  • At the verification step, they are redirected to the Nafath app.

  • Nafath authenticates and confirms the individual’s identity.

  • Data is returned to azakaw with accuracy and consistency assured.

Why it matters:

  • Removes manual entry errors.

  • Speeds up onboarding, reducing abandonment rates.

  • Builds regulator trust with Saudi-aligned standards.

“Direct integration with Nafath means institutions can onboard customers faster while meeting the highest standards of identity assurance. It is a practical example of how local regulatory frameworks can work hand in hand with global compliance technology.”— Cristiano Machado, Deputy CEO & CTO, azakaw

AI-Powered Screening Hit Review & Prioritisation

Sanctions and PEP screening has long been one of the most resource-intensive tasks in compliance. Traditional systems flood analysts with potential matches, most of which prove to be false positives. The result: wasted hours, inconsistent reviews and compliance teams stretched thin.

The September release introduces AI-powered screening hit review. Instead of requiring manual triage, azakaw now uses advanced natural language processing and risk classification to automatically assess hits.

How it works:

  • Every hit is automatically categorised as a Complete Match, Partial Match or No Match.

  • The system generates plain-language summaries that explain the key risk indicators.

  • High-risk hits are flagged for immediate analyst review, while low-confidence matches are deprioritised.

Why it matters:

  • Cuts review time by up to 70%.

  • Improves consistency with AI-generated justifications.

  • Strengthens audit trails with transparent reasoning.

AI-Powered Address Verification with Dynamic Scoring & Fraud Detection

Fraudsters are increasingly sophisticated in bypassing onboarding checks. VPNs, proxies and falsified documents make it harder to trust customer-submitted information.

Our new address verification tool uses AI to strengthen this weak spot.

How it works:

  • Uses OCR and tamper detection to validate utility bills, ID documents and proofs of address.

  • Applies dynamic scoring, raising alerts for inconsistencies or fraud patterns.

  • Produces audit-ready PDF reports for regulators.

Why it matters:

  • Strengthens AML and CFT checks by spotting hidden risks.

  • Enhances regulator confidence with verifiable digital evidence.

  • Keeps the process fast and seamless for customers.

Practitioner-Led, Regulator-Ready

These updates reflect rising compliance expectations in the GCC and beyond, from Saudi Arabia’s digital identity initiatives to FATF’s focus on robust customer due diligence. By combining local integration, AI-driven efficiency and fraud detection intelligence, azakaw enables institutions to meet higher standards without overloading their teams.

Whether entering new markets, streamlining sanction screening or uncovering fraud signals before they escalate, our mission is clear: to give compliance teams tools that are both smarter and regulator-ready.
